NSPS Announces Future for Steam Locomotive no. 576

Earlier today Julie Bayhi, manager of the Nashville Steam Preservation Society company store announced future plans for N.C. & St. L 4-8-4 Dixie-type steam locomotive #576's restoration. Currently, the NSPS volunteers are working on the locomotive to prep her for a rail move across town to the future restoration site of the steam locomotive, but in March a special surprise has been planned. As Bayhi announced, " The next stop on the restoration route for NC&StL No. 576 is very familiar territory: Nashville's Union Station. Thanks to the extreme generosity of CSX Transportation, No. 576 will be stopping at the former passenger terminal for a grand reunion of the two Nashville landmarks. From 11 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. on Saturday, March 9, the public is encouraged to be a part of the celebration. We sure hope to see you there! "

This event will be live streamed by RIAM | Industry Headlines. More announcements on the restoration of the 576 will be made available on this website. To help restore the 576 to operating beauty, consider donating to the NSPS or supporting them through their online store.
